Author Guidelines

Submissions are prepared at author.earthaccess.us

Earth Access Geoscience does not accept submissions through this site. All manuscripts are written, structured, and submitted using ezJATS, our authoring platform, at author.earthaccess.us.

There, you will be guided through building a complete, standards-compliant manuscript: text, figures, tables, equations, references, data availability, and the location of your data. You may import an existing Word document as a starting point. No knowledge of XML is required.

What we publish

Data Papers present original geoscience data — measurements, analyses, observations, or sections — that are well-located, well-documented, and honestly discussed.

Technical Notes describe a method, technique, procedure, or workflow of use to other geoscientists.

A submission does not need to report a novel finding or a significant conclusion. We ask whether the data are sound, well-described, and reusable — not whether the results are important. Negative results, partial datasets, single-site studies, and techniques that did not work are all welcome if they are honestly documented.

Review

Earth Access Geoscience does not conduct external peer review. Every submission is reviewed by the Editor for scope, data completeness, and methodological documentation, and must carry a signed attestation from a faculty advisor who supervised the work.

We publish data, not claims of significance. Our review asks whether the data are well-located, well-documented, and honestly discussed — not whether the findings are important.

If you need a peer-reviewed venue, this is not one, and we will tell you so plainly rather than imply otherwise.

All work published in Earth Access Geoscience is licensed CC BY 4.0. You retain copyright. Anyone may reuse your work with attribution.

Schedule

Issues are compiled four times a year after the initial issue: December 2026, then February, May, August, and November. Submission deadlines are approximately one month prior: January 1^st, April 1^st, July 1^st, and October 1^st.

Submission Preparation Checklist

Your manuscript must be created within ezJATS at author.earthaccess.us. (Earth Access Geoscience does not accept submissions here, only through ezJATS.)
Ensure that every site, sample, section, or survey area is located by latitude, longitude, and elevation, with an honest statement of positional uncertainty. You may upload a zipped shapefile or the coordinates.
Your methods should be explained in enough detail that the research could be repeated.
Any dataset too large for the tables and appendices must be deposited in a permanent archive and is cited by DOI.
My abstract is 300 words or fewer.
My faculty advisor has reviewed the manuscript and signed the attestation.
I understand that Earth Access Geoscience does not conduct external peer review.
I understand that the authoring fee is not refundable.
I agree to publication under a CC BY 4.0 license.
