What the fee is

Earth Access Geoscience charges $127.00 to create a manuscript in ezJATS, our authoring platform at author.earthaccess.us.

Please contact your Advisor, Mentor, or Internship Coordinator before you begin the process to make sure they agree and will be able to sign off on the work for you.  They are an integral part of the process.

What it pays for

The fee pays for the authoring service, not for publication.

It gives you access to ezJATS for that manuscript: the structured editor, Word import, figure and table handling, equation support, reference management, the advisor sign-off workflow, and export of a complete, standards-compliant JATS XML package with all of your media.

That package is yours. It is the product. If Earth Access Geoscience does not publish your manuscript, you still have it, and you can take it to any journal or repository that accepts JATS.

What it does not pay for

It does not buy publication, and it does not buy acceptance.

The Editor may decline a manuscript that is out of scope, that lacks adequate location data or methodological documentation, or that does not carry a faculty advisor's attestation. The fee is charged either way.

It is not refundable

The fee is charged when the manuscript is created, because that is when the authoring service is delivered to you. There are no refunds — including if you abandon the manuscript, if your advisor declines to sign, or if the Editor declines to publish.

Please be sure this is the right venue for your work before you pay.

Waivers

Earth Access Geoscience exists because good undergraduate data is lost when it has nowhere to go. We do not want the fee to become the reason a dataset stays on a shelf.

If the fee is a barrier, write to the Editor at scott@earthaccess.us before you begin, and explain your situation briefly. Waivers are granted at the Editorial Board's discretion. Asking will not affect how your manuscript is assessed.

There is no charge to read

Earth Access Geoscience is fully open access. Everything published here is free to read, free to download, and licensed CC BY 4.0. Readers are never charged, and there is no subscription.
